Hollow Marsh Meadow | Somerset Wildlife Trust
This hay meadow nature reserve offers glorious displays of wild flowers including orchids from spring to mid summer and is a great reminder of how wildlife rich our countryside can be if given a chance. On a warm day it really does throng with life and can be actually quite noisy with the sound of buzzing insects.

The steeply sloping higher ground to the west supports dry grassland species whereas the low damp east side supports a range of waterside plants. Also look out for evidence of Medieval and Roman opencast mining activities which were carried out here.

Sadly this woodland is badly affected by ash die back. This means that the ash trees are not in good health, they and their limbs are prone to failing and falling. We do not recommend visiting this nature reserve at the current time.

You may have come along to a similar event a few years ago, but this one is a different set of films so new to all of us (apart from the people in them!)
Doors open at 645pm with the screenings to start at 730pm. There will be an interval at approximately 830pm.
Due to the catering involved, no tickets will be available on the door, so please book as soon as you can.
NB - this is a special screening and therefore not applicable for annual passes or vouchers.

Cooks Field is a flower rich limestone grassland on steep slopes and traditional hay meadows on the higher and flatter ground. It is an important site for grassland butterflies.

King's Castle Wood | Somerset Wildlife Trust
Just a mile south-east of the centre of Wells, this is an ancient semi-natural woodland, made up primarily of ash, hazel and field maple, with planted oak and a fine stand of small-leaved lime. The main woodland is on a flat-topped promontory of the outlying Mendip Hills where an Iron Age fort once stood.

Middledown | Somerset Wildlife Trust
Middledown is an area of neutral and limestone grassland high up on the Mendip Hills; why not pack a picnic and come and enjoy the far reaching views?

GB Gruffy | Somerset Wildlife Trust
"Gruffy” or “groovy” ground is the Mendip name for land with numerous mineshafts, and other mining hollows, such as those covering most of the reserve. Lead was mined here in the 16th and 18th centuries and the work of the miners is still apparent today. GB Gruffy is a wonderful flower rich grassland and is also very good for butterflies and other grassland insects.

Lots Grassland | Somerset Wildlife Trust
An upland area of heathland known as Limestone Heath which is an uncommon habitat on the Mendip Hills and is great for heathland flowers. Another unusual feature for this limestone area is the appearance of springs which makes parts of the site wet all year round.

Cheddar Complex | Somerset Wildlife Trust
Three SWT reserves make up the Cheddar Complex; Black Rock, Long Wood and Velvet Bottom. The complex offers a chance to explore the desolate beauty of the Mendip Hills. The remote landscape is fractured with traditional stone walls and offers panoramic views across the Levels and Moors. The area is famous for its caving and the spectacular Cheddar Gorge which runs close to the reserves.

Draycott Sleights | Somerset Wildlife Trust
Photographers and serious naturalists alike love Draycott Sleights for the rich variety of wildlife and spectacular panoramic views across the Somerset Levels as far as Dorset, Exmoor and South Wales.

Bubwith Acres | Somerset Wildlife Trust
An area of limestone grassland and heath with bracken encroachment high up on the Mendip Hills. In spring and summer there is a fantastic display of wildflowers, with the varying soil types found across the site supporting different species.

Mascall's Wood comprises of an area of broadleaved ancient woodland on very steep slopes with a great diversity of woodland flora and lower slopes.
