There's a VERY exciting addition to the "kids eat free" map this summer - and that's Silverstone! It's not somewhere that's been top of my to-go list just because it's a little way away... but this offer might persuade me otherwise! (Plus I watched Gran Turismo last week and was on the edge of my seat!)
The chequered flag may have fallen on the 2026 British Grand Prix, but the buzz at Silverstone doesn't pack away when the season ends. Over the summer holidays, Silverstone Museum is giving families a genuinely useful reason to visit: children get in free and eat free.
The Museum sits right beside the famous Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire, home to some of the most recognisable cars, bikes and memorabilia in British motorsport. It's a chance to get up close to the machines that shaped racing history and to hear the stories of the drivers behind them - whether your family are dyed-in-the-wool motorsport fans or just curious about a bit of British heritage.
How the double offer works
Until 31 August, any child aged 15 or under can visit for free and pick a free meal, as long as they're with a full-paying adult (read the details here). In other words, you cover the grown-up tickets and the kids' entry and lunch are taken care of - which is no small thing across a long summer holiday.
What's on for 2026
There's plenty to fill an afternoon:
- Black Cats & Chequered Flags - brand new for 2026, this multiplayer mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR) experience brings to life the story of Alberto Ascari, the first driver to win back-to-back F1 world titles.
- Scalextric - back again for the summer, so kids (and, let's be honest, a fair few adults) can race cars around a beautifully detailed model of the National Circuit.
- RAF Silverstone - younger visitors can earn their airman's stripes while discovering the site's role as a Bomber Command training base during the Second World War.
- The vehicle collection - some seriously special machines are on display, including Nigel Mansell's title-winning Williams FW14B, Jenson Button's Brawn BGP 001, Lando Norris' 2019 McLaren MCL34 and Valentino Rossi's championship-winning Aprilia RS125.
Free food for hungry pit crews
Once everyone's done a lap of the exhibits, kids can refuel from a limited-time menu at no extra cost. Hot options include fusilli pasta with tomato and cheese, popcorn chicken, Quorn nuggets or fish fingers, each served with a side. If they fancy something lighter, there's a ham or cheese sandwich plus any two picnic extras - a fruit yoghurt, Pom Bears, a piece of fruit, Jammie Dodgers, or apple or orange juice.
