Want to film food content but don't know where to start? Love the idea of being a foodie blogger or influencer but just feel lost when it comes to taking the first step? If that sounds like you then here are my top dos and don'ts to help you get started. All artists need good tools so I’ve teamed up with CapCut PRO to share with you some tips and tricks for creating premium dining content.
Do get a clear panning shot of the space - don't just film it in one spot. And do show plating up if you're able to (perhaps hover around the kitchen hatch if the restaurant is set up like that), or unboxing and removing food from it's packaging or containers if it's being served in an unusual way.
Don't show half-eaten food. No one wants to see a half chewed biscuit. BUT... Do show yourself enjoying the food! If you head to my reel on this topic on Insta you'll see how I demonstrate the difference between these two.
Do make sure you're comfortable, as any awkward arm placements will show in the shot, and it won't look natural or as good as it would if you had been comfortable whilst you were filming.
It's not all about the food of course - do show close-ups of anything special in the interiors. Don't show messy tables, and remove everything that you don't want in the shot, like your handbag or a coat thrown over a chair. Do show quirky decor, but don't film the toilets unless they're really worth it.
My final pro "do", is do use CapCut PRO to edit all your content. The app has everything you could possibly need to bring your content to life. Add text and animation to capture the viewer's attention, and add a voiceover and captions where possible to make your content more accessible. CapCut also makes it easy to highlight your keywords to help your viewers focus on the important parts of your content. You can download CapCut PRO here.
Actually - that wasn't my final pro tip - the last one is, most of all, enjoy yourself! It's important for you, but it also shows in your work if you're having a good time.
