Yesterday we visited the Lego Discovery Centre in Birmingham. It was fantastic! We arrived at 12pm and left just before 3pm. We parked a two minute walk away in the Arena Birmingham (South Car Park), which was so convenient! Parking cost £10.00, which we paid upon departure.
Upon arrival, we had our photographs taken in varying poses with props such as swords, shields and a racing car wheel. We were given a ticket for our images, and then went down in the lift to the Centre proper. We got straight onto the indoor trackless ride, during which we rescued a princess! Ride photos were taken whilst we were on here too, which were then added to the previous ticket. After the ride, we had the opportunity to look at all of our photos (which had been edited to include fantastic backgrounds relevant to the props used in each photo) and purchase any that we wanted. We didn't want any on this occasion, which was no problem at all – there is no obligation to buy.

We then walked through into "Mini Land", where you can see the local Birmingham landmarks in Lego! The lights alternated between "night time" and "day time". The night time lights were particularly fabulous, as everything was lit up!
We then went through to the 'main' room. We created with Lego Friends, went on the soft play, and went on the Merlin's Apprentice indoor ride. There was also a 4D cinema, where we watched a Lego production approx. 20 minutes long. The kids loved it!
As part of the Formula 1 "Build the Thrill" event currently running (5th April-29th June), there were lots of opportunities to build cars and test them on the race tracks (this was Joseph's favourite part of the day!). Whilst we didn't see where to get the lanyards personally, there were lots of children running around with their "Pit Passes" (I had assumed this was a paid feature, but having looked on the website since, it is included in the ticket price). There was also a podium photo opportunity.
There was a Costa Coffee Shop on site, great for hungry mouths and parents in need of caffeine!
Further paid events, which we did not partake in, included Creative Workshops and The Great Lego Race VR Experience, however, the staff created lots of free-fun with games of musical statues, etc. and at one point, a Lego police man came out to say hello and take photos with the children.
Want to make a day of it? Multi-attraction tickets seem to be the way to go! Included in the multi-attractions are Lego Discovery Centre, Warwick Castle, Cadbury World, and Sea Life. The Sea Life Centre is just across from the Lego Discovery Centre, and would make the perfect addition in my opinion.
Online tickets to Lego Discovery Centre start at £26 and Multi Attraction tickets start at £35.
Whilst admission was gifted on this occasion, the thoughts expressed in my blog are my honest opinion.
