People all over the North of the UK this week have been receiving emails to inform them that their dreams of visiting Lapland UK just got a lot closer to coming true, as the company announced they're opening a second venue in Manchester.
Lapland UK first opened it's door in 2007, which somehow is 17 years ago, after being set up by a school teacher with a "love of childhood" and her husband. The project included set designers from Hollywood and production professionals from the West End and has welcomed over 1,000,000 guests. This year tickets, which go on sale in March, sold out in 4 hours as 300,000 people tried to grab their spot.

The only problem with Lapland UK though - well, besides the price tag and the strategy required to get tickets, is it's location: it's in Whitmoor Forest, Ascot, near Windsor - which is quite a long drive for a lot of people. And if you add a hotel into the mix, everything gets even more expensive.
But now Lapland UK have aquired a second location in Manchester at Capethrone Hall. Their new site is over 173,000sqm, which is a similar size to their original attraction in Whitmoor Forest. They haven't announced exactly when they'll open yet or when tickets will go on sale, but it's all expected to run at the same time as the Ascot location, with tickets going on sale in March and doors opening in mid-November and running for 6 weeks.
The site appearently takes 50 days to build the attraction, and 30 days to dismantle it afterwards. City AM also reported last year that the founding couple hope to expand Internationally in the future too.Despite avoiding main stream advertising - incase children see it and it spoils the magic - word of mouth saw them sell 37,000 tickets in their first year! With people now travelling from far and wide to experience the magic.
