I was recently lucky enough to be invited to Golf Fang in Cardiff - the coolest 18 hole mini golf course I’ve ever been to - or can imagine there ever being!
Located in the centre of Cardiff, it’s a strictly over 18s venue, with Security people checking IDs on the door if you’re lucky enough to look under 18. We got the train from Bristol and it took 50mins from Temple Meads to Cardiff Central, and it’s then a 10min walk from station. If you were driving, the nearest parking would be at the shopping centre St. David’s… but the train means you can try the alcoholic slushies!
It was a little busy when we arrived at 6:15pm on a Monday night, so we did have to wait before going onto the course. Whilst we were Gifted our evening there, there was a January offer on I believe, so that could be why it was quite busy that night with a few large groups in front of us. Ends up some of the large groups were belated Works Christmas Parties - they were people who work in hospitality so it’s hard for them to get a night out in December, and so they were having their Christmas party in January and this is the perfect location for that. For us though, it was a brilliant date night activity!

You can leave coats in the cloack room for £2.50 but I decided I’d rather keep ours with us.
They give you a buzzer when you go in and when it goes off you head to the start where you are told the rules and given clubs and balls. As you go around, one person takes all their goes before moving on to next person (rather than each of you take turns in order and risk knocking someone’s ball out of the way), and you get a max of 6 shots per hole.
There are plenty of tables to put drinks on whilst you go around the course, and you’re able to pop back to the bar mid game should you wish. Which considering they sell alcoholic slushies plus funky cocktails, is really handy. All the while they play old school/90’s/00’s hip-hop music.
The actual golf holes themselves are brilliant - they’re retro themed, and there’s a sonic one, pac man, blockbuster, and a toy grabber. There’s even a slide after hole 9! The whole place is unique, with their website describing the venue as a “cathedral of graffiti”; local artists paint the walls (and everywhere) and the result is very bold and urban.
Food is a big part of their offering, and you can eat before or after you play golf, it’s very casual. They serve amazing street food and pizza, with prices starting from £3.50 per large slice of pizza or it's £12-14 for a 14 inch. They also do pizza dogs, nibbles such as chicken wings and halloumi sticks, and loaded fries. It’s worth knowing that you can get 2 free drinks on your birthday if you join their mailing list.
Just golf starts from £12.50 per person (or £7.50 for students), but they have deals for adding food and drink which are actually very good value.
There are also arcade games such as dance machines, racing games and basketball, with the whole place taking up 2 floors. If you do just do golf, there's a smokehouse restaurant and sports bar next door with lots of great large screens showing live sports and pool tables.
Overall this was a great night out and I’d really recommend Golf Fang in Cardiff.
