A day out at WWT Slimbridge

We live locally to Slimbridge, and therefore love WWWT Slimbridge as a day out! Before my son started school, we visited at least once a week. The membership is so reasonable, it is definitely worth looking into!

Whilst it is fantastic on an 'average' day, this Easter school holidays are a particularly great time to visit, as they are currently running their "Lloyd of the Flies" trail until 1st June. Help Lloyd and his friend Dart find Lloyd's friends and family, explore the wetlands, and make their way to WWT Slimbridge's bug hotel. Activity packs are available at £4 each.

During the holidays, activities such as pond dipping, pollinator walks, Lloyd of the Flies screenings, craft activities and bug-hotel making will be running.

Regular activities such as the Talks and Tours and Canoe Safaris will also be in operation. We particularly love the Otter feeding (11.30 and 3pm daily) and Living Wetland Theatre's live bird demonstrations (12.30pm). This is a great opportunity to meet Slimbridge's ambassador birds, which you won't see out on the grounds.

Another fabulous half-term activity at Slimbridge is Welly Boot Land. My sister does not take her kids to Slimbridge without swimming costumes (summer) or wellies (winter) in tow (my son would rather look at the birds. But my teenage daughter loved it when she was a child too).

With plenty of options for food, drinks and snacks, this is another all-day day out. There is also a gift shop on site where you can buy bird feed. My kids particularly love to feed the geese on Swan Lake.
