Bolgoed is an old sandstone quarry, last worked in 1955.

Rhos Cefn Bryn consists of unimproved acid grassland. This type of grassland is generally confined to west Wales and is a feature associated with Carmarthenshire and south Ceredigion.

Craig Cilhendre is upland Oak woodland, part of which is ancient in origin, with some patches of wet woodland, situated on a steep north-facing hillside.

Carmel comprises a mosaic of habitats with a distinct patchwork pattern of woodland blocks and unimproved and semi-improved hay meadows.

Fen, wet grassland and wet woodland. This urban nature reserve has a rich diversity of habitats which include marsh/marshy grassland and a large area of wet woodland, drier broadleaved woodland, dry neutral grassland, fen and swamp, and is the remnant of a much larger area of valley mire.

Mixed broadleaved and wet woodland, partly ancient, and pond. The woodland is covered by a Tree Preservation Order.

Ancient Ash woodland and Beech plantation. Kilvrough Manor Woods comprises two areas of woodland, on either side of the A4118¸ south Gower road in the Parkmill Valley. The woods are mostly ancient semi-natural and broadleaved, made up of a canopy of Ash, Oak, Beech, and Elm, with a Beech plantation making up a large part of the southern woodland. There is also a small amount of Larch planted in some areas.Both sites are SSSI, and form part of the much larger European Natura 2000 site, Gower Ashwoods SAC.
