Hailes Abbey | English Heritage
Founded by the Earl of Cornwall in thanks for surviving a shipwreck. It housed a renowned relic, ‘the Holy Blood of Hailes’: allegedly a phial of Christ’s blood. Great picnic spot. Audio tours.

Belas Knap Long Barrow | English Heritage
A particularly fine example of a Neolithic long barrow of c.3800 BC, featuring a false entrance and side chambers. During excavations in the 1860s, the remains of 31 people were found in the chambers.

Odda's Chapel | English Heritage
One of the most complete surviving Saxon churches in England, this chapel was built in 1056 by Earl Odda, and rediscovered in 1865 subsumed into a farmhouse. Nearby is the famous Saxon parish church.

Coombe Hill Canal and Meadows | Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust
Coombe Hill Canal and Meadows is a place of vistas and endless skies, of floods and farming, an ancient landscape fringing the River Severn. Whether it’s a chilly autumnal morning or warm summer’s day, there’s always something to delight visitors at Coombe Hill. This wetland landscape is great for walking and bird watching, although acts as a floodplain during winter months. Bring binoculars to bird watch, or simple enjoy the wildlife and scenery.

Chaceley Meadow | Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust
Wildflowers and birds thrive at Chaceley Meadow nature reserve. Although some distance from the River Severn the meadow occasionally floods in winter, the perfect environment for a multitude of wildflowers.
