The northern and eastern parts occupy a steep north-facing slope supporting wind-trimmed scrub woodland of Ash, Hazel, Hawthorn, and Blackthorn, with a low dense canopy and strongly calcicole field layer. Cwm Wanderers once played football on this site. It is now a nature reserve of wet tussocky grassland known as Rhos pasture. It is home to the rare marsh fritillary butterfly

Carboniferous limestone quarry, plantation, scrub, and surrounding woodland. Geological SSSI (quarry face only).

The nature reserve consists of three wildflower meadows and a large area of woodland. The nature reserve lies on the site of a former coal mine and is a wonderful example of how nature can reclaim an area.

This reserve, once the site of extensive coal mining, is a great example of how nature has reclaimed the landscape. It is a rich mix of wildlflower meadow, rhos pasture and young woodland. It is one of the best sites in Wales for the rare marsh fritillary butterfly.

Ancient Ash woodland and Beech plantation. Kilvrough Manor Woods comprises two areas of woodland, on either side of the A4118¸ south Gower road in the Parkmill Valley. The woods are mostly ancient semi-natural and broadleaved, made up of a canopy of Ash, Oak, Beech, and Elm, with a Beech plantation making up a large part of the southern woodland. There is also a small amount of Larch planted in some areas.Both sites are SSSI, and form part of the much larger European Natura 2000 site, Gower Ashwoods SAC.
