The National Lottery gives a staggering amout of money to good causes each year and they're asking those good causes to "give back" to Lottery players, by offering them freebies and special offers for a week from Saturday 9th March to Sunday 17th March.
You can check the National Lottery website for a list of things in your area, to see what's available. You can get free entry to the Eden Project, free entry to various museums including the Charles Dickens Museum, and 25% off a family ticket to Chester Zoo. (Heads up: most are free entry to National Trust properties, which would be great if we hadn't just joined the National Trust this year!) The website lets you view a map, or search by post code as well as checking for a particular day and category including wheelchair accessible.
You should read the details and small print for each offer, but most of them seem to talk about free entry - or free parking - on presentation of a National Lottery Ticket or scratchcard... so I guess it's not completely free, because you need to buy a ticket, but it's still a massive saving in most cases.
If you are a visitor attraction that has been supported by the National Lottery and would like to say thank you to players, you've got until midday on Friday 8th March to submit your offer. You'll be featured on the National Lottery website, and with promotion about it having started already, the sooner you get your offer submitted, the more chance of more people seeing it.
I've just checked and that "staggering amount" raised for good causes is £30,000,000 a WEEK - a WEEK - isn't that insane?! There must be a lot of Lottery players in the land!
