OpenTable is a website that let's you book tables at thousands of restaurants, and then review them. Each month they analyse more than 400,000 new reviews - that's a lot of information!
Based on those results, they've put together a list for July 2023 of the best 10 restaurants in Bristol, based on their visitor's reviews.
The list features 2 restaurants which are new to OpenTable, the first of which is Persian cuisine Koocha Mezze Bar on Cheltenham Road by the Arches. The other new arrival for OpenTable is Casa - an Italian restaurant by Peter Sanchez-Iglesias. Sanchez-Iglesiasn previously ran Casamia, the Michelin-star Italian restaurant which closed in 2022 after 25 years, due to being financially unviable any longer. Casa is a slightly more casual offering to the previous restaurant.
Casamia used to be based in Westbury on Trym, before moving to a BS1 post code in 2015. Casa is now based at that same BS1 location, at Lower Guinea Street, Bristol. The restaurant was originally set up by Peter's parents before being taken over by Peter and his brother Jonray, who sadly passed away from skin cancer - also in 2015.
Meanwhile, little sister to Casamia, Paco Tapas is situated next door to Casa at The General on Lower Guinea Street, and is also featured on the list of top 10 resturants in Bristol.
The only place on the list I've actually been to is The Ivy in Clifton, somewhere I'd wanted to go for ages and finally did this April as an early Birthday treat. You can see my photos of the rather floral loos here! I'd also highly recommend the non-alcholic breakfast cocktail they serve.
You can view OpenTable's full list of recommended restaurants here, and book your next night out. If you're not in the Bristol area, simply change the location you're viewing to see places to eat from all over the UK.
