Coastal calcareous grassland, Ash woodland and scrub. The site is partly designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument and lies within the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

Brynna Woods and Llanharan Marsh | The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales
Brynna woods comprises of 38ha of secondary, and some ancient, semi-natural woodland, scrub, marshy grassland, dry grassland and ruderal habitats.

Coed y Bwl is an ancient Ash woodland situated on the northwest side of the Alun Valley and overlies the Carboniferous limestone. The site is a notified SSSI.

Marshy grassland and lowland wet heathland. The site is part of the Llantrisant Common and Pastures SSSI. The site is covered by a Tree Preservation Order.

Coed y Bedw – Pentyrch | The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales
Ancient broadleaved woodland, which is located across the boundary between acidic and calcareous soils.

Lavernock Point – Penarth | The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales
Lavernock is made up of a number of habitats, principally coastal Jurassic limestone grassland and scrub. Status Lavernock Point SSSI forms two thirds of the site.

Parc Slip Nature Reserve – Bridgend | The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales
A restored opencast site consisting of grassland, woodland, wetlands, including lakes with bird hides. Green Flag Accredited Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre.

Peterstone Wentlooge Marshes | Gwent Wildlife Trust
As the River Severn ebbs and flows, flocks of birds feast on the invertebrate-rich mudflats under the wide, open skies of this estuarine reserve.

Pwll Waun Cynon – Mountain Ash | The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales
The site has a selection of habitats including a large pond, marsh, flood meadow, acidic Oak and Ash woodland and scrub.
